Round 1, Pick 18 (18) (From DAL): Eric Reid/FS/LSU. Star Impact: ✪✪✪½
Smart, well-rounded player; team captian. Tremendous trade executed to grab top talent at position of need after Dashon Goldon signed with the Bucs. Suffered a partial tear to quadriceps tendon as a sophomore; reaggravated it in 2012. Mentored by Corey Webster.
Round 2, Pick 8 (40) (From TEN): Cornellius Carradine/DE/Florida St. Star Impact: ✪✪✪
Explosive pass-rusher; quick off the snap of the ball and able to shed blockers with ease. Displays good hand repertoire and ability to get around the edge. Recorded 26 sacks in two seasons at Butler CC. Had 11 sacks in 2012 before torn ACL ended his season. Still rehabbing.
Round 2, Pick 23 (55) (From GB): Vance McDonald/TE/Rice. Star Impact: ✪✪✪
Extremely strong (30 bench press reps) and fast (7.08 three-cone). 78% of his catches went for first down this past season. Plugs hole created by the departure of Delanie Walker (Titans). Has been compared to Mike Ditka by head coach Jim Harbaugh and was given number 89.
Round 3, Pick 26 (88) (From GB): Corey Lemonier/OLB/Auburn. Star Impact: ✪✪½
Pass-rush specialist who will be groomed to transition from defensive end to outside linebacker. Makes the defense younger/faster overall. Trade up target of Niners during draft.
Round 4, Pick 31 (128): Quinton Patton/WR/Louisiana Tech. Star Impact: ✪✪
Complete receiver; good route-runner, speedy and elusive. Generated buzz with a trifecta of stellar performances at Senior Bowl, NFL Combine and pro day workout. Amassed over 2,500 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns the past two seasons. Could get a look as punt returner.
Round4, Pick 3 4(131) (Compensatory): Marcus Lattimore/RB/South Carolina.Star Impact: ✪✪✪
Best running back talent in draft but comes with serious medical concerns. Tore knee ligament in 2011. In 2012, he suffered a gruesome leg injury causing torn ACL, PCL, and MCL. Has been rehabbing rigorously. Called “the greatest player in South Carolina history,” by Steve Spurrier. Scored 38 touchdowns in 30 career games. Was a first round talent prior to injuries.
Round 5, Pick 24 (157) (From Colts): Quinton Dial/DE/Alabama. Star Impact: ✪✪
Protoypical five-technique run stuffer who has a history of injuries. JUCO transfer-didn’t qualify academically to enroll at Alabama coming out of high school. Has played multiple positions.
Round 6, Pick 12 (180) (From Dolphins): Nick Moody/OLB/Florida St. Star Impact: ✪
Special teams ace who converted from free safety to middle linebacker. 10 Starts as senior.
Round 7, Pick 31 (237): B.J. Daniels/QB/South Florida. Star Impact: ✪
Will get backup quarterback reps but could be used in other roles such as return man.
Round 7, Pick 40 (246) (Compensatory): Carter Bykowski/OT/Iowa St. Star Impact: ✪✪½
Former 245-pound blocking tight end; added 60 pounds to bulk up and play tackle. Backup.
Round 7, Pick 46 (252) (Compensatory): Marcus Cooper/CB/Rutgers. Star Impact: ✪
Workout warrior who will battle to make roster with so much depth at cornerback. Fast!
