Versatile Virginia Tech defensive back Antone Exum is expected to return to action in time for week three’s matchup at East Carolina, according to NFL.com.

He suffered a knee injury that tore his ACL and right lateral meniscus in a pickup basketball game at the end of January, jeopardizing his availability for the season opener against Alabama.

With the ability and experience to play cornerback, free safety and strong safety, Exum projects as an early round pick for the 2014 NFL Draft.

He led the Hokies with five intereceptions and 16 pass break ups, to go along with 48 tackles, while starting 13 games last season.
