Experienced, four-year starter who possesses a boomerang leg and demonstrates a strong grip/drop technique, to go along with a powerful follow through. Outstanding hang time and directional punting—his hang time is consistently between four-to-five seconds and above, according to head coach Brad Lambert. He led Conference USA with a school-record 22 punts of 50-plus yards during his senior season at Charlotte. Understands how to utilize the sidelines to his benefit and uses the out of bounds as an extra defender when pinning return men inside the twenty. Knows how to balance hang time and distance so that he doesn’t out kick his coverage unit—he does a tremendous job cutting off the field. Would like to see him tighten up his motion a bit, he has some room to shorten up his steps a bit in order to make for a quicker get-off—he may be able to shave off a few tenths of a second on his delivery. No stranger to adversity. Was born deaf and was also one of the only African-American children in his hometown. He did not begin punting until high school and has shown vast improvement every year, at every level. He played at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf, where he learned sign language as a sophomore in high school before transferring to Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C., in order to play a higher level. He finished his 49ers career with a bang; recording a school-record 48.6 punting average in his final game (seven punts; 340 yards), including two punts of 50-plus. He also has the ability to handle kickoff duties and has experience holding for extra points and field goals. Is scheduled to attend the Jamie Kohls Kicking Camp in Charlotte on January 12th and the Coach Zauner Pro Combine in Phoenix, February 23rd-25th. One of the top directional punters in the 2018 NFL Draft Class, he would become just the fourth deaf player in NFL history.
