Scouting Report: Connor Williams, OT, Texas

Coppell, TX | 6045 | 320 | 5.02E | 2019

Connor Williams has started at left tackle for the Longhorns since his true freshman season. He is highly athletic, possesses ideal speed and lateral quickness for the tackle position and also appears to have adequate length. As a Sophomore, he showed off excellent usage of leverage and technique. Williams is rarely caught out of position, he shows great understanding of pursuit angles, he appears to know exactly where the football is and times out his blocks well to cut off the path to the play. He is capable of playing both tackle or guard but profiles as a blindside protector in the pros. He gets out to the second level quickly, breaks through the trash and strikes moving targets. Williams carries his weight well at 320 pounds, he has a nicely proportioned build and can handle speed rushers as well as power bull rushers. He is a highly competitive player that has some real nastiness to his game and he shows a real desire to win his one on one reps and finish plays off. Suffered a sprained MCL and PCL in his left knee during September of 2017 but is still expected to be one of the first linemen off the board in whichever draft class he chooses to be a member of.
