Scouting Report: Najee Harris, RB, Alabama

Antioch, CA 6013 | 227 | 4.54E | 2021

The freshman phenom is not just the top rated runningback on a number of different recruiting services but he’s been called “one of the most impressive running back recruits to come out since Reggie Bush” by one scout. His high school footage shows off a huge 6’1” kid that transfers his weight extremely well, excels at jump cuts and has elusiveness that belie his prototype size. Najee Harris plows through contact, drags would be tacklers with him and has great understanding of distance/angles. Perhaps one of his best traits is his ability as a receiver with ideal ball skills, terrific coordination/body control and outstanding leaping ability to go for jump balls. If he wasn’t such a gifted and powerful runner, he could be a very effective H-back or safety with his range, vertical presence and hands. Harris will be entering a very crowded backfield in Tuscaloosa but there’s no way a talent like this will go untapped, so expect to see flashes early from this prodigy who has a unique blend of Todd Gurley and Le’Veon Bell to his game.
