Scouting Report: Ryquell Armstead, RB, Temple

Ryquell Armstead, RB, Temple

Millville, NJ | 5114 | 205 | 4.50E | 2019

Has shown glimpses of potential throughout his Owls career and was called upon as a sophomore to step in for the injured Jahad Thomas—he proceeded to guide the offense, including a handful of performances where he literally carried the team to victory. Nothing spectacular about his game is going to wow you but he can do a little bit of everything. His run/catch/block ability are all above average and he demonstrates good vision. He shows stout leg strength despite his skinny legs but has dealt with a toe injury that has hindered him for the duration of 2017 and wasn’t able to rest it much due to the accumulation of injuries on the team in the backfield. He’s known to have a highly competitive demeanor. With another year of eligibility remaining, he’ll need a full season to prove that he can stay healthy and regain some of that explosiveness we saw as a sophomore in order to earn a draftable grade. Until then, he currently projects as an undrafted free agent.
