After an underachieving 2019 campaign where they failed to make the playoffs, both general manager Ryan Pace and head coach Matt Nagy enter 2020 on the hot seat. Chicago acquired former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles as an insurance policy at quarterback but selecting one during the NFL Draft should not be ruled entirely out. QUARTERBACK: Mitch Trubisky/Nick Foles/Tyler Bray
Money Invested: $24.953M | Percentage of Cap: 12.6% |Need Level: HIGH
Overview: The Bears will likely leave the quarterback competition up for grabs between Trubisky and Foles. If neither steps up to take command of the role this year, then the position will once again need to be filled in Chicago.
RUNNING BACK: David Montgomery/Tarik Cohen/Ryan Nall
Money Invested: $3.913M | Percentage of Cap: 2% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: Montgomery looks like a stud for years to come and the Bears will need to continue to find ways to get the ball in the hands of the dynamic Tarik Cohen.
WIDE RECEIVER: Allen Robinson/Anthony Miller/Cordarrelle Patterson | Depth: Riley Ridley/Javon Wims/Jesper Horsted/Reggie Davis/Thomas Ives/Alex Wesley
Money Invested: $26.335M | Percentage of Cap: 13.3% | Need Level: HIGH
Overview: Taylor Gabriel was released, likely due to the emergence of Anthony Miller down the stretch of last season. He may continue to blossom, but the Bears should still look to find another option to compliment Allen Robinson.
TIGHT END: Trey Burton/Jimmy Graham/Adam Shaheen | Depth: Demetrius Harris/Ben Braunecker/Eric Saubert/Darion Clark/Dax Raymond
Money Invested: $21.748M | Percentage of Cap: 11% | Need Level: MEDIUM
Overview: A ton of depth here, but can these options stay healthy and consistently productive?
OFFENSIVE TACKLE: Charles Leno/Bobby Massie | Depth: Germain Ifedi/Rashaad Coward/Dino Boyd
Money Invested: $20.917M | Percentage of Cap: 10.6% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: Chicago has invested heavily into protecting the edges and it has paid off, plus they were able to add a cheap depth piece in Ifedi this offseason.
OFFENSIVE GUARD: James Daniels/Alex Bars | Depth: None
Money Invested: $2.57M | Percentage of Cap: 1.3% | Need Level: URGENT
Overview: Daniels has been inconsistent thus far moving between guard and center, while the other guard spot still has yet to be filled.
CENTER: Cody Whitehair | Depth: Corey Levin/Sam Mustipher
Money Invested: $5.644M | Percentage of Cap: 2.8% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: Whitehair has stayed consistently productive in leading that Bears offensive line.
DEFENSIVE LINE: Akiem Hicks/Eddie Goldman/Roy Robertson-Harris | Depth: Brent Urban/Bilal Nichols/Abdullah Anderson/James Vaughters
Money Invested: $28.874M | Percentage of Cap: 14.6% | Need Level: MEDIUM
Overview: Hicks and Goldman are studs and Chicago has good depth here but that other five-technique opposite Hicks could use an upgrade.
EDGE RUSHER: Khalil Mack/Robert Quinn | Depth: None
Money Invested: $32.7M | Percentage of Cap: 16.5% | Need Level: MEDIUM
Overview: The Bears have obviously invested heavily into generating pressure off the edge but grabbing some depth here should be a priority this offseason.
LINEBACKER: Roquan Smith/Danny Trevathan/Barkevious Mingo | Depth: Joel Iyiegbuniwe/Isaiah Irving/Devante Bond/Josh Woods
Money Invested: $12.62M | Percentage of Cap: 6.4% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: Roquan Smith broke out last year as the ball-hawking tackling machine everyone thought he would be. Trevathan was resigned as the leader of the defense and Mingo was added to provide some versatility.
CORNERBACK: Kyle Fuller/Artie Burns/Buster Skrine | Depth: Kevin Toliver/Tre Roberson/Michael Joseph/Xavier Crawford/Stephen Denmark
Money Invested: $21.881M | Percentage of Cap: 11% | Need Level: HIGH
Overview: The Bears cut Prince Amukamara this offseason and clearly have a need at the other corner spot opposite Fuller.
SAFETY: Eddie Jackson/Deon Bush | Depth: Jordan Lucas/DeAndre Houston-Carson/Kentrell Brice/Duke Shelley
Money Invested: $6.998M | Percentage of Cap: 3.5% | Need Level: HIGH
Overview: HaHa Clinton-Dix left in free agency and the Bears need to find someone to pair with star Eddie Jackson on the back-end.
KICKER: Eddy Piniero | Money Invested: $0.750M | Percentage of Cap: 0.4% | Need Level: HIGH
PUNTER: Pat O’Donnell | Money Invested: $1.850M | Percentage of Cap: 0.9% | Need Level: LOW
LONG SNAPPER: Patrick Scales | Money Invested: $0.888M | Percentage of Cap: 0.4% | Need Level: LOW
