It has taken multiple attempts to find a heir apparent to Peyton Manning but Denver seems to finally have found their man in Drew Lock. The strong-armed signal caller is going to be in need of a big play wide receiver, which many predict the Broncos will go searching for early on during the draft. On defense, they’ll look to solidify their linebacker and secondary units. Be sure to download your copy of the 2020 NFL Draft Bible, featuring 600+ scouting reports.
QUARTERBACK: Drew Lock/Jeff Driskel/Brett Rypien
Money Invested: $4.018M | Percentage of Cap: 2% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: Drew Lock was drafted in the second-round last year and showed in his six starts that he can be the man moving forward.
RUNNING BACK: Melvin Gordon/Phillip Lindsay | Depth: Royce Freeman/Khalfani Muhammad/Jeremy Cox
Money Invested: $10.056M | Percentage of Cap: 5.1% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: The Melvin Gordon addition clouds this room up and makes them a deep group at the position. Don’t look for them to add any more pieces here in the draft.
FULLBACK: Andrew Beck
Money Invested: $0.675M | Percentage of Cap: 0.3% | Need Level: MEDIUM
WIDE RECEIVER: Courtland Sutton/DaeSean Hamilton/Tim Patrick | Depth: Diontae Spencer/Fred Brown/Juwann Winfree/Trinity Benson/Kelvin McKnight/Bug Howard
Money Invested: $7.434M | Percentage of Cap: 3.8% | Need Level: HIGH
Overview: Courtland Sutton emerged as a true No.1 receiver last season but the Broncos need to add other dynamic playmakers on the outside to compliment him.
TIGHT END: Noah Fant/Jeff Heuerman | Depth: Nick Vannett/Troy Fumagalli/Jake Butt/Austin Fort
Money Invested: $11.693M | Percentage of Cap: 5.9% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: Noah Fant was the Broncos’ first-round pick last year and played well in his rookie season. The depth behind him is solid, so Denver doesn’t need to add here.
OFFENSIVE TACKLE: Garett Bolles/Ja’Wuan James | Depth: Calvin Anderson/Jake Rodgers/Ka’John Armstrong/Quinn Bailey/Tyler Jones
Money Invested: $19.690M | Percentage of Cap: 9.9% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: Ja’Wuan James was picked up in free agency last year to pair with Garett Bolles and give them their bookends of the future. The only need here is for more adequate depth.
OFFENSIVE GUARD: Dalton Risner/Graham Glasgow | Depth: Elijah Wilkinson
Money Invested: $10.851M | Percentage of Cap: 5.5% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: Graham Glasgow comes over in free agency to pair with Dalton Risner as the team’s guard combo moving forward.
CENTER: Austin Schlottmann | Depth: Patrick Morris/Nico Falah
Money Invested: $2.109M | Percentage of Cap: 1.1% | Need Level: URGENT
Overview: The Broncos lost Connor McGovern in free agency and would like to find his replacement through the draft.
DEFENSIVE LINE: Jurrell Casey/Mike Purcell/Shelby Harris | Depth: DeMarcus Walker/Kyle Peko/Dre’Mont Jones/Deyon Sizer/Jay-Tee Tiuli/Joel Heath/Jonathan Harris
Money Invested: $23.723M | Percentage of Cap: 12% | Need Level: MEDIUM
Overview: This is a sneaky good unit that the Broncos made sure they resigned, and they even added Pro Bowler Jurrell Casey from the Titans. The only need here is for young depth behind the top guys.
EDGE RUSHER: Von Miller/Bradley Chubb | Depth: Jeremiah Attaochu/Malik Reed/Malik Carney/Justin Hollins
Money Invested: $36.632M | Percentage of Cap: 18.5% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: The Broncos have their stud edge pairing in Von Miller and Bradley Chubb, but could add some youth to this group on day three.
LINEBACKER: Todd Davis/Alexander Johnson | Depth: Josey Jewell/Josh Watson/Tre’ Crawford/Joe Jones
Money Invested: $9.788M | Percentage of Cap: 4.9% | Need Level: HIGH
Overview: Todd Davis has been solid in the middle of that Bronco defense but finding someone to pair with him has to be at the top of the Broncos’ priority list.
CORNERBACK: AJ Bouye/Isaac Yiadom/Bryce Callahan | Depth: Duke Dawson Jr./De’Vante Bausby/Alijah Holder/Shakial Taylor/Davontae Harris
Money Invested: $24.266M | Percentage of Cap: 12.2% | Need Level: HIGH
Overview: The Broncos picked up star corner AJ Bouye in a trade with the Jaguars but they need to find someone to pair with him on the other side.
SAFETY: Kareem Jackson/Justin Simmons | Depth: Trey Marshall/Kahani Smith/PJ Locke/Tyvis Powell
Money Invested: $28.236M | Percentage of Cap: 14.2% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: Justin Simmons will play on the franchise tag next year but it’s hard to imagine the Broncos letting him walk. He will most likely be resigned to keep in tandem with veteran Kareem Jackson. Depth behind this duo is a need for day three/undrafted free agency.
KICKER: Brandon McManus | Money Invested: $4.250M | Percentage of Cap: 2.1% | Need Level: NONE
PUNTER: Sam Martin/Colby Wadman/Trevor Daniel | Money Invested: $2.958M | Percentage of Cap: 1.5% | Need Level: LOW
LONG SNAPPER: Wes Farnsworth/Jacob Bobenmoyer | Money Invested: $1.220M | Percentage of Cap: 0.6% | Need Level: MEDIUM
