When you win the Super Bowl, you can afford to make luxury picks such as a compliment running back, or a wide receiver to groom for down the road. While they have no dire needs, an upgrade at linebacker or cornerback could be in the deck. As long as Patrick Mahomes stays healthy, the Chiefs will be an automatic contender. Be sure to download your copy of the 2020 NFL Draft Bible, featuring 600+ scouting reports.

QUARTERBACK: Patrick Mahomes/Chad Henne/Jordan Ta’amu/Kyle Shurmur

Money Invested: $8.231M | Percentage of Cap: 4.2% | Need Level: NONE

Overview: Patrick Mahomes is a mega-superstar and the new face of the NFL. The Chiefs will most certainly break the bank for him when the time comes.

RUNNING BACK: Damien Williams | Depth: Darwin Thompson/Darrel Williams/DeAndre Washington/Elijah McGuire/Marcus Marshall/Mike Weber

Money Invested: $6.150M | Percentage of Cap: 3.1% | Need Level: HIGH

Overview: This group was productive last year for the Super Bowl Champion Chiefs but this offense could be even more deadly with a true weapon out of the backfield.

FULLBACK: Anthony Sherman

Money Invested: $0.888M | Percentage of Cap: 0.4% | Need Level: LOW

WIDE RECEIVER: Tyreek Hill/Sammy Watkins/Mecole Hardman | Depth: Demarcus Robinson/Byron Pringle/Felton Davis/Gehrig Dieter

Money Invested: $36.712M | Percentage of Cap: 18.5% | Need Level: LOW

Overview: The top options here are solid but the Chiefs may look to round out this group with some youthful depth behind the top four options.

TIGHT END: Travis Kelce | Depth: Ricky Seals-Jones/John Lovett/Alize Mack/Deon Yelder/Joe Fortson/Nick Keizer

Money Invested: $14.411M | Percentage of Cap: 7.3% | Need Level: MEDIUM

Overview: It’s obvious Travis Kelce is still the Chiefs’ top option but the lack of depth behind him is alarming.

OFFENSIVE TACKLE: Eric Fisher/Mitchell Schwartz | Depth: Greg Senat/Mike Remmers/Jackson Barton

Money Invested: $28.054M | Percentage of Cap: 14.2% | Need Level: LOW

Overview: This tackle tandem is one of the best there is in the league.

OFFENSIVE GUARD: Andrew Wylie/Laurent Duvernay-Tardif | Depth: Martinas Rankin/Nick Allegretti

Money Invested: $11.150M | Percentage of Cap: 5.6% | Need Level: MEDIUM

Overview: This guard tandem was rock solid for the Chiefs on their Super Bowl run, but they could bring in some young interior options to compete.

CENTER: Austin Reiter

Money Invested: $3.758M | Percentage of Cap: 1.9% | Need Level: MEDIUM

Overview: The undrafted Austin Reiter has emerged as a solid starting option for the Chiefs but adding young competition is necessary.

DEFENSIVE LINE: Chris Jones/Derrick Nnadi | Depth: Mike Pennel/Khalen Saunders/Devaroe Lawrence/Braxton Hoyett

Money Invested: $20.343M | Percentage of Cap: 10.3% | Need Level: MEDIUM

Overview: The Chiefs put the franchise tag on Chris Jones but will undoubtedly try to work something out long-term with the team’s sack leader. The run stuffing options behind him are solid, but more youth and versatility is needed.

EDGE RUSHER: Frank Clark/Tanoh Kpassagnon | Depth: Alex Okafor/Breeland Speaks/Demone Harris/Tim Ward/Anthony Lanier

Money Invested: $31.747M | Percentage of Cap: 16% | Need Level: HIGH

Overview: Finding a premier pass rusher opposite Frank Clark should be one of the Chiefs’ top priorities.

LINEBACKER: Anthony Hitchens/Ben Niemann/Damien Wilson | Depth: Darius Harris/Dorian O’Daniel/Emmanuel Smith

Money Invested: $21.007M | Percentage of Cap: 10.6% | Need Level: URGENT

Overview: This is probably the Chiefs’ top need. They lost Reggie Ragland in free agency and finding a downhill run stopper is essential with the likes of Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry atop the AFC.

CORNERBACK: Bashaud Breeland/Charvarius Ward/Rashad Fenton | Depth: Chris Lammons/Alex Brown/Antonio Hamilton

Money Invested: $8.210M | Percentage of Cap: 4.1% | Need Level: HIGH

Overview: Bashaud Breeland was brought back on a “prove it” deal and Charvarius Ward played well throughout the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run and likely landed himself a starting role. The Chiefs still need to find a reliable nickel corner and depth to come in and compete.

SAFETY: Tyrann Mathieu/Juan Thornhill | Depth: Daniel Sorensen/Armani Watts

Money Invested: $23.050M | Percentage of Cap: 11.6% | Need Level: LOW

Overview: Juan Thornhill emerged last season as a guy the Chiefs can pair up with Tyrann Mathieu on the backend and feel comfortable with. Daniel Sorensen fills a ton of roles on this defense as well, so this group is solid.

KICKER: Harrison Butker Money Invested: $3.195M | Percentage of Cap: 1.6% | Need Level: NONE

PUNTER: Dustin Colquitt | Money Invested: $2.650M | Percentage of Cap: 1.3% | Need Level: LOW

LONG SNAPPER: James Winchester | Money Invested: $1.020M | Percentage of Cap: 0.5% | Need Level: LOW
