Kudos to Brian Flores, as the first-year headman guided the Dolphins to five wins based on out-coaching opponents. The foundation for the rebuild has been set. Now, they must add pieces, beginning with a franchise quarterback. All positions are in play and could justifiably use an upgrade, so Miami should look to implement a ‘best player available’ approach. QUARTERBACK: Ryan Fitzpatrick/Josh Rosen/Jake Rudock
Money Invested: $10.920M | Percentage of Cap: 5.5% | Need Level: URGENT
Overview: The Dolphins top pick will almost certainly be a quarterback to come in and compete with Ryan Fitzpatrick.
RUNNING BACK: Jordan Howard/Kalen Ballage | Depth: Patrick Laird/Myles Gaskin/Samaje Perine/De’Lance Turner
Money Invested: $8.597M | Percentage of Cap: 4.3% | Need Level: HIGH
Overview: Jordan Howard was brought in to fill this role but he’s hardly considered a workhorse back anymore. They will likely look to add here early in the draft to build around.

WIDE RECEIVER: DeVante Parker/Preston Williams/Albert Wilson | Depth: Jakeem Grant/Allen Hurns/Ricardo Louis/Isaiah Ford/Gary Jennings/Mack Hollins/Andy Jones/Terry Wright
Money Invested: $27.685M | Percentage of Cap: 14% | Need Level: HIGH
Overview: Preston Williams showed a lot of promise later on last season, but it remains to be seen if he can develop into a true No.2 receiver behind stud wide out DeVante Parker.
TIGHT END: Mike Gesicki | Depth: Durham Smythe/Michael Roberts/Chris Myarick
Money Invested: $4.071M | Percentage of Cap: 2% | Need Level: MEDIUM
Overview: Mike Gesicki was one of the Dolphins’ top picks two years ago and he enjoyed a nice breakout season last year but there’s not much depth here.
OFFENSIVE TACKLE: Julie’n Davenport/Jesse Davis | Depth: Adam Pankey/Keaton Sutherland
Money Invested: $8.488M | Percentage of Cap: 4.3% | Need Level: URGENT
Overview: Julie’n Davenport and Jesse Davis are better regarded as depth options rather than starting options.
OFFENSIVE GUARD: Ereck Flowers/Michael Deiter | Depth: Danny Isidora/Deion Calhoun
Money Invested: $7.430M | Percentage of Cap: 3.7% | Need Level: URGENT
Overview: Ereck Flowers was questionably paid a lot of money to come in and fill the hole at left guard but the right side still needs to be addressed.
CENTER: Ted Karras
Money Invested: $4M | Percentage of Cap: 2% | Need Level: HIGH
Overview: Ted Karras was brought over from New England, and the Dolphins will find out if he’s the starting option they view him as.
DEFENSIVE LINE: Christian Wilkins/Davon Godchaux/Avery Moss | Depth: Taco Charlton/Jonathan Ledbetter/Gerald Willis/Zach Sieler/Durval Queiroz Neto
Money Invested: $10.925M | Percentage of Cap: 5.5% | Need Level: HIGH
Overview: Christian Wilkins and Davon Godchaux have shown the promise to be valuable contributors here but beyond them it is very scarce on the defensive front.
EDGE RUSHER: Shaq Lawson/Emmanuel Ogbah | Depth: Charles Harris/Trent Harris/Sam Equavoen/Andrew Van Ginkel/James Crawford/Jamal Davis/
Money Invested: $24.886M | Percentage of Cap: 12.6% | Need Level: MEDIUM
Overview: The Dolphins added the young combo of Shaw Lawson and Emmanuel Ogbah to come in and rush the passer but they may look to add depth here later in the draft.
LINEBACKER: Kyle Van Noy/Jerome Baker | Depth: Elandon Roberts/Vince Biegel/Kamu Grugier-Hill/Calvin Munson/Raekwon McMillan/Terrill Hanks
Money Invested: $16.317M | Percentage of Cap: 8.2% | Need Level: LOW
Overview: The Dolphins addressed this need in free agency by adding a ton of valuable pieces.
CORNERBACK: Byron Jones/Xavien Howard/Nik Needham | Depth: Cordrea Tankersley/Jomal Wiltz/Ryan Lewis/Ken Webster/Tae Hayes/Nate Brooks/Montre Hartage/Jake Carlock
Money Invested: $33.737M | Percentage of Cap: 17% | Need Level: MEDIUM
Overview: Byron Jones was signed to pair with Xavien Howard and become one of the league’s best duos on the outside. They still need to find a guy to cover the slot however.
SAFETY: Adrian Colbert/Eric Rowe | Depth: Clayton Fejedelem/Bobby McCain/Steven Parker/Linden Stephens
Money Invested: $15.09M | Percentage of Cap: 7.6% | Need Level: URGENT
Overview: Reshad Jones was finally let go and a massive hole at safety still remains.
