2020 NFL Draft Team Needs: Tennessee Titans (9-7)

By Dakota Follett (@dakfollett) | Published April 10, 2020

It was a remarkable run for Tennessee who knocked off New England and Baltimore in the playoffs on the legs of Derrick Henry. The Titans brought back Ryan Tannehill who enjoyed a career year with a fresh start. Reinforcements are needed on the front lines on both offense and defense to help them get over the hump. QUARTERBACK: Ryan Tannehill/Logan Woodside

Money Invested: $23.110M | Percentage of Cap: 11.7% | Need Level: MEDIUM

Overview: Ryan Tannehill was extended this offseason but the Titans are still searching for his backup.

RUNNING BACK: Derrick Henry | Depth: Dalyn Dawkins/Shaun Wilson

Money Invested: $11.703M | Percentage of Cap: 5.9% | Need Level: MEDIUM

Overview: Derrick Henry was franchise tagged and the Titans will most certainly lock up their workhorse back. However, Dion Lewis was let go and the depth behind him is wide open.

FULLBACK: Khari Blasingame

Money Invested: $0.675M | Percentage of Cap: 0.3% | Need Level: MEDIUM

WIDE RECEIVER: AJ Brown/Corey Davis/Adam Humphries | Depth: Kalif Raymond/Cody Hollister/Cameron Batson/Rashard Davis/Trevion Thompson

Money Invested: $22.725M | Percentage of Cap: 11.5% | Need Level: LOW

Overview: The Titans may add depth at the bottom of this group but the top is very solid with youth and tons of promise.

TIGHT END: Jonnu Smith/Anthony Firkser | Depth: MyCole Pruitt/Cole Herdman/Parker Hesse

Money Invested: $6.780M | Percentage of Cap: 3.4% | Need Level: MEDIUM

Overview: Jonnu Smith will have to step up into Delanie Walker’s vacated role and he showed the ability to be productive in that spot last season.

OFFENSIVE TACKLE: Taylor Lewan/Dennis Kelly | Depth: Ty Sambrailo

Money Invested: $23.352M | Percentage of Cap: 11.8% | Need Level: MEDIUM/HIGH

Overview: Dennis Kelly was resigned but it’s unclear if the Titans view him as their right tackle or just a swing tackle. Nevertheless, they will likely bring in some young competition to at least explore their options.

OFFENSIVE GUARD: Rodger Saffold/Nate Davis | Depth: Jamil Douglas/David Quessenberry

Money Invested: $14.709M | Percentage of Cap: 7.4% | Need Level: HIGH

Overview: Rodger Saffold is reliable on the left side but they have an obvious need at right guard.

CENTER: Ben Jones | Depth: Daniel Munyer

Money Invested: $7M | Percentage of Cap: 3.5% | Need Level: MEDIUM

Overview: Ben Jones is a solid leader up front but is only under contract through next season. They could look to get younger and save money here next offseason.

DEFENSIVE LINE: Jeffery Simmons/DaQuan Jones/Isaiah Mack | Depth: Jack Crawford/Matt Dickerson/Amani Bledsoe/Jordan Williams/Joey Ivie

Money Invested: $14.676M | Percentage of Cap: 7.4% | Need Level: HIGH

Overview: The Titans traded away their longtime leader up front in Jurrell Casey this offseason, most likely due to the promise shown by Jeffery Simmons. They will now need to find another 5-technique to play opposite him.

EDGE RUSHER: Harold Landry/Vic Beasley | Depth: Kamalei Correa/Reggie Gilbert/Josh Smith/Derick Roberson/D’Andre Walker

Money Invested: $16.298M | Percentage of Cap: 8.2% | Need Level: MEDIUM/HIGH

Overview: The Titans added Vic Beasley off the edge opposite of Harold Landry but his play has been declining ever since his standout sophomore season. Tennessee has been heavily linked to Jadeveon Clowney this offseason but if that doesn’t work out look for them to add late in the draft.

LINEBACKER: Jayon Brown/Rashaan Evans | Depth: David Long/Nigel Harris/Nick Dzubnar

Money Invested: $7.638M | Percentage of Cap: 3.9% | Need Level: LOW

Overview: The Titans seem to have their young standout pairing in the middle with Jayon Brown and Rashaan Evans but depth behind them could be bolstered.

CORNERBACK: Malcolm Butler/Adoree’ Jackson/Chris Milton | Depth: Kareem Orr

Money Invested: $18.506M | Percentage of Cap: 9.3% | Need Level: HIGH

Overview: Malcolm Butler has not lived up to his hefty price tag and the Titans need to find someone to fill the vacated left by the departure of Logan Ryan.

SAFETY: Kenny Vaccaro/Kevin Byard | Depth: Dane Cruikshank/Amani Hooker/Joshua Kalu/Kenneth Durden

Money Invested: $20.755M | Percentage of Cap: 10.5% | Need Level: LOW

Overview: Kevin Byard is a perennial Pro Bowler and Kenny Vaccaro has completed turned his career around in Tennessee. This duo isn’t going anywhere and the depth behind them is solid.

KICKER: Greg Joseph | Money Invested: $0.675M | Percentage of Cap: 0.3% | Need Level: HIGH

PUNTER: Brett Kern | Money Invested: $3.300M | Percentage of Cap: 1.7% | Need Level: LOW

LONG SNAPPER: Beau Brinkley | Money Invested: $1.200M | Percentage of Cap: 0.6% | Need Level: LOW
