NFL Week 4 Power Rankings

We are vastly approaching the quarter way mark of the NFL race, which we call the regular season. With three games in the books, we can begin to get a feel for which organizations are on the rise and which teams are expected to slide.

The defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots have emerged as the favorites in Las Vegas to hoist the Lombardi Trophy once again. However, there are some NFL title contenders with really nice odds such as The Packers at (+1200) who remain undefeated despite offensive struggles.

After the Patriots, the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams are the next two teams favored to win the Super Bowl but then it gets interesting.

Many experts predicted the New Orleans Saints to compete for the Super Bowl prior to the injury sustained by quarterback Drew Brees. The future Hall of Famer said he ‘hopes to beat his six-week prognosis.’ However, Brees has already miss two weeks and will be back within a month regardless. Plus, the Saints at 2-1, have already proved that they can still win with one of the best backups in the league, Teddy Bridgewater. New Orleans will stay competitive until Brees returns and look for them to make a late-season run. We’ve seen this team get hot and march deep into January on several occasions.

One team who has improved their odds favorably since the start of the season are the Green Bay Packers, who sit atop the NFC North at 3-0. The Dallas Cowboys and Packers are currently the next two favored teams after the Chiefs and Rams. However, there is another undefeated team worth paying attention to.

The San Francisco 49ers have emerged as serious contenders and former legend Jerry Rice has even proclaimed that the Niners have ‘a great chance of winning the Super Bowl.” Head coach Kyle Shanahan is considered one of the best young minds in the game and has his team clicking on all-cylinders, there is something magical happening in San Francisco.

If you’re looking for a good darkhorse candidate to emerge from the scrum, search no further than the Seattle Seahawks. While they appear to still be searching for an identity, the Seahawks are loaded with talent. Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson are one of the lone head coach/quarterback duos that remain in the league. With excited young pieces such as DJ Metcalf, Will Dissly and Rashaad Penny in tow, along with recently added Jadeveon Clowney, look for Seattle to be in contention come season’s end.

Kansas City (-6.5) over Detroit Lions

This contest will be a showdown of contender versus pretender. While the Lions remain undefeated at 2-0-1, they’re not in the same weight class as the Chiefs, who are 3-0 and can put points on the board in a jiffy. Detroit has made tremendous strides, including a vast improved defense but Kansas City should have no problem going on the road and lighting up the scoreboard. If Patrick Mahomes is clicking early, you may even be able to kick up your feet on the recliner by halftime. Chiefs 34, Lions 17.
