Scouting Portfolio: Noah Wanzek, North Dakota

NOAH WANZEK | WO | #31 | SR | 6040 | 210 | Jamestown, ND | Jamestown HS | Class of 2020

Overview: Blessed with tremendous size, length and athleticism, Wanzek possesses strong hands and is a sound route runner, demonstrating a good feel for his transitions at the top of his route. In addition to excellent waist/knee bend, the North Dakota native flashes astute ball skills and the ability to contort his body to make off-target catches. More of a possession type wide out, Wanzek lacks explosiveness and owns limited athleticism but compensates with smarts and instincts. Known for his intense work ethic, he has bulked up 35 pounds since his freshman season in college. Wanzek has the frame to add even more bulk and the Fighting Hawks team captain could be viewed as a tight end prospect by some scouts. A well coached player who is fundamentally sound, his catch radius and experience playing inside/outside will garner the attention of pro teams at the next level.

Background: Son of Tracy Wanzek and the late Naomi Wanzek. Named to the North Dakota Class AA All-State second team after senior season; finished final prep season with more than 600 receiving yards. Named a finalist for North Dakota Mr. Basketball as a senior and participated in wrestling, soccer, and track and field in high school. Earned Class A All-State second team honors as a junior and senior. Majored in management. High character player.

Career: In 45 career games (27 starts), totaled 203 receptions for 2,696 receiving yards (13.3) and 18 touchdowns. In 12 games as a senior, nabbed 74 catches for 996 yards (13.5) and four touchdowns.
