Scouting Report: Jake Browning, QB, Washington

Folsom, CA | 6012 | 210 | 4.70E | 2019

One of his most favorable attributes is his ability to processes information rapidly at the line of scrimmage, make necessary adjustments and get rid of the ball quickly once the ball is snapped. Extremely accurate with excellent touch and constantly keeps his eyes down the field. Shows tremendous poise in the pocket, possesses the agility to scramble around the pocket in order to avoid the rush and extend the play (Improviser). Expresses the confidence and command of a true leader in the huddle and on the field. Displays a cool as a cucumber demeanor, quick decision-maker and able to zip the ball through tight windows. Showed tremendous resilience as a freshman, despite beginning his career 2-5, his leadership never waived and he stayed dedicated to maximizing his potential, according to coaches. Became the second ever (in any game) true freshman to start at QB at the UW (the other was Marques Tuiasosopo. A known film-junkie. Has made highlight reel type blocks, which helped win over teammates from an early time. Lack of prototypical size will be the biggest knock against this signal-caller. He self-admittedly continues to work on his arm strength. Also needs to continue to bulk up his frame in order to prepare for the grueling 16 game schedule at the next level.  Can do a more efficient job transferring his weight during his release. Has to better develop footwork when dropping back, in addition to planting his feet in the pocket, some of his back foot throws can be eliminated. Struggled against top competition as a freshman, which actually benefitted him as he matured. The baby-faced assassin has been playing at an advanced level his entire life, dominating at every level and earning the starting quarterback since the moment he stepped foot onto the Huskies campus. Possesses all the intangibles, may lack the size but more than capable of being a top-end starter at the next level but will have to overcome size concerns and will need to check out medically—he had shoulder surgery during 2017 offseason.
