Freelance safety with great size and acceleration. Does an excellent job playing decoy and baiting the quarterback. Doesn’t stand still pre-snap, whether it’s taking a few steps up, left or right, he is constantly trying to disguise his every move. As the last line of defense, his first move is usually to take a step back, as he is so quick to break on the ball—he utilizes his makeup speed. Will lay the lumber when presented the opportunity. Doesn’t always take the best angles. Follows his assignment out almost to a fault, where sometimes he fails to adjust to the play as it unfolds. He also needs to sharpen his backpedal. Accumulated 52 tackles, six forced fumbles, three interceptions and eight pass deflections, earning MAC All-American and Freshman of the Year Honors in 2016. He averaged 40 yards per interception return, showing nice instincts with the ball in his hands and was known to challenge some of the upperclassmen, as he has embraced a leadership role. “Not only does he make picks and do some of the flashy kind of stuff, but he is a physical guy against the run and makes tackles and can play off blocks of receivers and be a force,” according to his head coach Frank Zolich.
